confortable and near the EMPERORS conference hall
they charge internet connection and they charge per MB not per hrs or day, pratically every 2 hrs you ha ve to pay and this is a disaster for business. Internet must be FREE they have to learn form many other country, one for all hong Kong.
Very close to the airport. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Pay for internet?? Come on this is 2013. Get real. Rooms and bathrooms are old. Garden around the swimming pool are not much fo rthe eye.
Breakfast, Close airport
Employees (speak a lot between them very, very, very loud, noisy, much laughter sound, showing little professionalism)
Fast Lifts. Good food. Happy Hour. Friendly & Helpful Staff Location for the airport...perfect. Free Shuttle!
Rooms need updating, too "dark". Bathrooms very "tired"...marble very marked, needs either repolishing, or replacing with granite (which keeps its shine better). The tile grouting needs to be redone...very dirty etc...
Close to airport.
Although clean and staff helpful, the rooms look like they are due for a revamp.
The distance from the airport and the Hotel. The rest is the same for all the Southern Sun.
The room and the staff were just superb.
Friendly staff, location
Musty smell in corridors, dingy bathroom
Good clean room
Being harassed on boarding the bus from the airport - your driver did not interfere and in the dark area it's in it's a little alarming! We booked in late and even then we didn't have milk in our room, had to wait for quite a while to have some brought, then discovered just 1 sugar...hopeless. Running the shower results in a flood - bad design really, so we had to use all the towels just to be able to step around the bathroom. The TV didn't work which we went down to report and were told it is a hotel-wide problem, while in the lobby all the staff are standing watching beautiful wide-screen tvs which all work - how can that be!? When pointed out the gentleman behind the desk had nothing really to say...apologies from a manager on exit was a bit too late. We left as soon as we could and skipped breakfast. After a 2 week holiday to Barcelona, a cruise and a 2-night stay in Dubai, just this 1 little thing - the stay overnight in your hotel - was the worst disappointmant. For the price paid it was ridiculous considering how little attention is paid - my daughter mentioned to all our stops that it was our 40th wedding anniversary trip and ALL others made at least a token gesture and/or ensured everything in our accommodation was prepared properly - pity you couldn't. We don't stay in hotels regularly, this stay ensures I won't be in future, and I certainly would not recommend your hotel.
Very close to airport. Very secure parking.
Southern Sun is listed as a "pet friendly" hotel. However, check-in desk was very surprised to see our dogs in kennels (2 minature dachshaunds). We had only just succeeded in getting them released from saa cargo after our trans-Atlantic flight (iad to jnb). We were extremely exhausted and ready to sleep. We had obviously been booked on an upper level of the hotel, but the check-in agent "scrambled" to find another place for us. Granted, I can understand the importance of not offending other guests with noisy pets, but our pets were clearly communicated on the booking. Anyhow, they changed our booking to place us on the ground floor (which was a very welcome idea) in room 30. However, we were not told that this whole wing was undergoing remodeling. We were the only guests there. Contractors worked the entire business day and made it extremely difficult to sleep-off our jet-lag. Plus, the room was much in need of renovations. The shower stall leaked water all over the bathroom floor. There was initially no mini-fridge in the room and the one brought a few hours after our check-in was mouldy and did not ever reach a cool termperature. The wardrobe containing the mini-safe had a broken left door, which made it nearly impossible to close. Though we had clearly requested a non-smoking room, the room and hallway reeked of cigarette smoke. Though listed as "pet friendly," it was necessary to exit through the main entrance and walk to the backside of the hotel to find any grass or park for the dogs to stretch their legs. Sun hotels are typically beyond my budget, but I booked with the Southern Sun because it was near the airport and was listed as "pet friendly." Fortunately, we did manage to get some rest and continued to our Port Elizabeth destination by car. Our "relocation" to a wing being renovated should have reduced our nightly rates, but no offer was given.
Location, Service and Restaurant
The building has better rooms to the left and old and not good rooms to the right hand you you come in to the hotel.
I've stayed at Southern Sun on a number of occasions over the last 4 years. The staff continue to be welcoming and friendly throughout the stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I enjoy eating there and never feel the need to venture elsewhere during my transit stays. The airport shuttle is very efficient and my late check out requests due to my departure times are always seen to with ease which elsewhere is normally an issue. I was pleased to stay there again. The added service of internet in my room made the stay much better this time.
The only thing I will remember for next time is to ask for lighter bedding. The duvet is for winter and I was quite hot and remembered I had the same issue last time.
It is close to the airport. We spent 1 night there, before going to Cape Town.
Although it is close to OR Tambo Aiport, you must take a free shuttle to get there. We arrived late at night and had to wait 10 minutes for it outside the airport. There were 4 men trying to get money from the tourists ("tips") in a very agressive way and we felt really unsafe, like we were being robbed. The hotel room looks old and hasn't a minibar or any snacks / beverages.
Transfer to/from Airport and location.
The room was not as clean as it should be.
Since Booked.net didn't actuallly send my reservation to the hotel, I really liked this hotel as they still managed to find me a room, and for a lower rate!!!!!! Booked.net is what I would like to review.
